Spring Deals!

The first day of spring has a Winter Weather Advisory: there's 3-5 more inches of snow forecasted for today and more as the week progresses!

Head to Vermont’s mountain resorts for a slew of seasonal "Bests" from more sunshine and less crowds, to quirky events and getaway packages and deals.

Bolton Valley Resort
The Cabin Fever Elixir Package is Bolton Valley’s best ski-and-stay value this season, offering one third off the retail price. For $149 per person, guests will receive two days of skiing or riding and one night of ski-in/ski-out lodging at the Inn at Bolton Valley, right at the base of the mountain. The package also includes dinner in the James Moore Tavern overlooking the slopes, a continental breakfast, and use of the Sports Center including the indoor pool.

Now until the end of the season, Bolton offers a package of $79pp/pn and on March 26 the infamous Pond Skiing event is always great entertainment.

Bolton offers the most extensive night skiing in the state Wednesday – Saturday nights, with a special night skiing offer on Saturday’s that includes $2 pizza slices, $2 beverages and a free ski movie.

Pond Skimming: An annual rite of spring returns, as Bolton Valley hosts Pond Skimming. Skiers and riders assemble on the slope right in front of the Base Lodge to try their luck at crossing the man-made pond--fueled only by gravity, technique, and the desire to stay dry. The mountain's most popular spring event, Pond Skimming is always the biggest party of the season. This year's event will have a "Superheros and Comics" theme, so put on your Batman or Garfield costume and come try to skim our pond. The entry fee is just $5 per skimmer. Everyone must also have a lift ticket or season pass to enter.

Already the best value for skiing and riding at Bolton, Bolton Valley offers free skiing and riding for the remainder of this season when people purchase a 2011-2012 season pass by the April 5 deadline. Bolton Valley season passes for 2011-2012 are at their lowest price until April 5 plus skiers and riders can witness one of the most amazing parts of spring skiing—a sunset cascading behind the Adirondacks thanks to this Vermont resort’s west-facing peak and slopes. Season Passes for the upcoming season starting at $449 for adults and $159 (when purchased with a parent’s adult season pass) for youth ages 7-17, if purchased by April 5.

A 2011-12 Bolton Valley Season Pass includes:

  • Unlimited alpine skiing and riding
  • A 20% discount on rentals, retail shop purchases, group ski and ride lessons, and lodging (includes condos, suites, or hotel rooms)
  • Sports Center Membership including access to an indoor heated pool, hot tub, and sauna

Smugglers’ Notch Resort
With over 22 feet of snow at Smugglers' Notch Resort thus far this season, the spring skiing and riding experience promises to be excellent. Longer days deliver more time for outdoor fun, and apres ski activities such as barbecues and picnics pop up in parking lots and on especially scenic spots on Smugglers' trails.

From a learning perspective, Smugglers' Snow Sport University director Harley Johnson says that spring is a great time to learn how to ski or snowboard. "With warmer temperatures and softer snow conditions, beginning skiers and riders, and particularly children, may find it easier to learn without the distraction of the cold," explains Johnson.

Now through April 2, 2011, the popular Club Smugglers' Winter Base Package starts at $79 per youth and $109 per adult with lodging, daily lift tickets and use of the indoor pool, hot tubs, FunZone family entertainment center and snowtubing as inclusions. Special events include the BrewFest on April 2, featuring the best of local and regional beers in an evening of samplings, music and munchies. Please visit www.smuggs.com for additional information.
