Fischer Skis USA Partners with Ski Vermont
Fischer Skis USA has partnered with Ski Vermont to promote Nordic skiing at Vermont resorts by supporting Ski Vermont’s month long Learn to Ski and Snowboard promotion in January 2011. Fischer Nordic ski gear will be featured in Ski Vermont’s January ‘Gear Up for Winter Fun’ website sweepstakes and Fischer Nordic demos will be held at select Ski Vermont resorts on Winter Trails, a day-long, nationwide celebration of Nordic skiing held on January 8, 2011.
Fischer will also support Ski Vermont’s Learn to Ski for Free Week, January 3-9, 2011, offering all first time Nordic skiers a complimentary issue of Nordic World magazine as well as special purchase incentives on Nordic ski equipment. Select Ski Vermont Nordic resorts will offer FREE beginner Nordic ski lessons and rental equipment to adults and children who have never tried Nordic skiing.
Fischer spokesman and U.S. Ski team member Andy Newell is a native Vermonter from Shaftsbury, who trains at the Stratton Mountain School in Stratton. Andy serves as a Ski Vermont Ambassador for the Fifth Grade Passport Program that enables fifth graders to ski for free at all Vermont Nordic areas when accompanied by an adult.
Newell will begin the 2010-2011 season in Gållivare, Sweden, competing in the opening World Cup races and following the World Cup circuit with the goal of achieving top results at the 2011 Nordic World Championships in Oslo, Norway.
“In sprinting, races can be decided by the smallest of margins,” said Newell. “Everything needs to be perfect: training, preparation and skis. I know that
Fischer has the skis that will help me take advantage of these small
margins.”
Fischer Sports is the world’s preeminent Nordic ski manufacturer and markets Nordic skis, bindings, boots and poles for Nordic racing, cruising, touring, backcountry and recreational skiing. Vermont Olympian Andy Newell
