The BOC Ski Hut is the place to cross-country ski in Brattleboro. It's so close and convenient, it's practically XC in your backyard! But better because with just a few inches of snow, we groom our rolling trails on the fairways of the Brattleboro Country Club and keep on skiing even when your home's backyard has melted bare or frozen solid. Just two miles from town, the Ski Hut is where friends and family gather to make the most of winter. Learn-to-ski programs after school, ski and snowshoe rentals on weekends, special events that celebrate the gift of winter-- kids of all ages stride and glide, stomp and slide, and frolic with friends in the snow.
We invite you to discover the simple pleasures that our 33 kilometers of trails offer to those willing to venture out in winter. We maintain trails for all tastes-- Classic-only trails meander through the woods, while our fairway trails are groomed wide with both skating lanes and stride & glide tracks. In fields adjacent to the fairways, our Hunde-loipes (Hound loops) for dog-lovers and their pets are groomed regularly. And thanks to the Windham Foundation and the Retreat Farm for access to their lands, snowshoe and backcountry trails have been blazed through the forests and fields behind Harris Hill.
Most of what you see and ski is due to the efforts of committed volunteers. Hut ambassadors sign in guests, rent gear and keep the cocoa hot. Trails are groomed by the Gomer Squad-- simple-minded folks who perform their duty as a labor of love and don't know when to quit! Younger school children are taught by older kids who have come through our volunteer-run program.
Our goal is to enjoy the outdoors in all of nature's seasons-- and invite our neighbors to share in the benefits of outdoor recreation that foster life-long fitness and well-being. That's what our Brattleboro Outing Club is all about. For 86 years, the BOC has been fulfilling its mission-- to encourage, develop, and promote family outdoor life and good fellowship.
