Mount Snow, Vt. (May 12, 2014) – Amongst the ever-evolving technological environment that puts information, interaction and entertainment at the tips of our fingers there are a couple things that can be easily forgotten, but are arguably the most important – connecting with family and exploring the outdoors. Recognizing that, starting in the summer of 2014 Mount Snow will launch The Family Camp at Mount Snow which will offer 3, 4 or 7 day, fully customizable experiences to families that are looking to leave the iPad at home and focus on enjoying each other’s company.
The Family Camp at Mount Snow will be based at the southern Vermont resort, which operates partially within the Green Mountain National Forest. It is the closest area of National Forest to all of southern New England, eastern New York and New Jersey which means families do not have to drive far to enjoy public lands forever preserved and maintained for their recreational use.
While there will be ample opportunities to explore nature and take part in activities not otherwise readily accessible in an urban setting, no outdoor survival skills are necessary here because all meals are expertly prepared by Mount Snow’s culinary staff and lodging accommodations are condominiums equipped with all the comforts of home. However, The Family Camp at Mount Snow will go by the mantra “unplug and reconnect” because during the day or at any other Camp function, electronic devices are not permitted.
“The goal of the Family Camp is to have families take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy each other’s company in one of the Nation’s most beautiful places,” said Family Camp Director, Mike Mitton. “We plan to take the worry out of everything and offer a fun, educational and interactive experience. Families can choose to be as adventurous or as low-key as they want.”
The Family Camp at Mount Snow will start in late-June and will operate every week through early August with fully customizable packages that include lodging, meals, activities, excursions and more. Sundance Lodge, located at the foot of Mount Snow, will act as base camp. Beach volleyball, archery, guided hikes, guided mountain biking, golf, fishing, boating and swimming are just a few of the activities families can enjoy during their week.
Other activities like shopping trips and museum tours can be arranged upon request.
