Spruce Peak at Stowe Mountain Resort
STOWE, VERMONT - When Stowe Mountain Lodge was unveiled in June 2008, the 139-room ski, golf and spa hotel, located at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort and two massive mountains - Mt. Mansfield and Spruce Peak - redefined Stowe as the nation’s preeminent luxury mountain resort experience. Bringing this charming vacation destination back to its renowned status as the “Ski Capital of the East,” the lodge delivers a level of service found only at five-star resorts around the world, with a precision typically associated with Far Eastern properties, a sophistication inspired by the finest European hotels and a relaxed warmth that is distinctly New England. This December (2009) Phase II of Stowe Mountain Lodge opens, expanding to include 312 premium slopeside rooms.
A true year-round resort with a host of activities during all four seasons, Stowe Mountain Lodge offers a myriad of invigorating recreation and relaxing activities amidst Vermont’s most highly-coveted surroundings. An exclusive Bob Cupp mountain golf course, slopeside access to the most legendary ski terrain in the East, a lavish 2,100 square foot spa and wellness center, innovative farm-to-table casual and fine dining options, professional Orvis certified fly fishing guides, an in-house recreation team leading personalized hikes and tours, and a fine selection of high-end retail shops and boutiques are merely a few of the world-class options available to guests.
Alpine Concierge®
With programs designed to cater specifically to each and every guest’s needs, Stowe Mountain Lodge offers a degree of service available only at the most prestigious hotels and resorts worldwide. By taking a unique anticipatory approach to service, the hotel’s signature Alpine Concierge addresses and tracks guest preferences prior to their stay. From specialty foods that are stocked in guest rooms, to selections from an international pillow menu for a restful night’s sleep, the Alpine Concierge ensures a truly exceptional and bespoke experience.
The Spa and Wellness Center at Stowe Mountain Lodge
The Spa and Wellness Center at Stowe Mountain Lodge allows guests to rejuvenate both body and spirit. The 21,000 square foot facility offers therapeutic facials, massages and body treatments reflecting the changes occurring in New England’s four seasons. Guests can attain balance in the winter, heal in the spring, rejuvenate in the summer and detoxify in the fall. The Spa’s “healing lodge,” a private water sanctuary integrating an herbal steam chamber, Jacuzzi pool, dry sauna, and cooling rain shower, encourages ultimate relaxation. Two harmony rooms equipped with reclining SO sound chairs provide a visceral bliss, allowing music to resonate through the body, naturally reducing stress, relieving pain and promoting better sleep.
Guests of Stowe Mountain Lodge have the opportunity to take advantage of custom-designed programs focusing on healthy lifestyle choices. Wellness experts, including personal fitness trainers and nutrition counselors, perform evaluations of their clients’ current physical conditions as well as future wellness goals, to help create tailored nutrition and fitness plans. Fitness classes and personal training are an important part of the Wellness Center experience, and guests are invited to take advantage of a dedicated Pilates studio for one-on-one instruction, as well as group yoga, Zumba, spinning and boot camp classes, among others.
Farm-to-Table Cuisine
Solstice, Stowe Mountain Lodge’s fine-dining restaurant, serves only the finest contemporary American rustic cuisine, taking advantage of Vermont’s world-renowned artisan cheeses, locally-grown fresh produce and heirloom grains. Stowe Mountain Lodge is a true advocate of the farm-to-table movement, and has partnered with the Vermont Fresh Network and Chefs Collaborative to create a dining experience that is truly unique to the area and to each season. In addition, Hourglass bar and lounge features Vermont-inspired signature cocktails and other beverage options including the resort’s own exclusive, hand-crafted microbrew, Hourglass Ale.
Stowe Mountain Golf Club
Created by renowned golf course designer (and Jack Nicklaus protégée) Bob Cupp, the private18-hole, par 72 natural mountain course winds dramatically along the lower reaches of Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak to an elevation of more than 1800 feet. Available exclusively to club members and guests of Stowe Mountain Lodge, the resort course offers breathtaking mountain views of Mount Mansfield, Spruce Peak and the Worcester Range. Stowe Mountain Club was designed as an environmentally conscious project, and is the first golf course in Vermont to achieve Audubon International Signature Sanctuary certification.
Design
The thoughtfulness of service principals also flows into the design and décor of the property. The resort hotel is a melding of modern design concepts with a new "Vermont-Alpine" aesthetic. The lodge’s exterior features a picturesque façade of woven Western Red Cedar timber and shingles that draw upon the natural harmony found in nature, as well as stone veneer created from the Champlain Quarries in the Adirondacks, and expansive glass to bring the beauty of the lodge’s outdoor surroundings to the indoors.
The interior design incorporates a color palette of the local seasons – vibrant reds, deep oranges, warm yellows and soothing greens. These warms tones, plush furnishings and soothing amenities dot the interiors, which are used as a showcase for Vermont’s most renowned international artists and artisans, including glassblower Simon Pearce, furniture maker Charles Shackleton, potter Miranda Thomas, artistic woodworker Parker Nichols, blacksmiths from Hubbardton Forge and several local painters, all of which enjoy a global following.
Environmental Efforts
At the center of the only mountain resort in the United States to have been awarded Audubon International’s sustainable community award, Stowe Mountain Lodge was built using eco-friendly practices and maintains a commitment to environmental stewardship through operational practices. Some examples of the lodge’s environmental efforts include low flow shower heads and toilets, compact fluorescent light bulbs in all guest rooms, recycling bins available for guest use in rooms, use of eco-friendly cleaning products by housekeeping staff, in-room paper products (notepads, etc.) printed on recycled paper, sheets and robes made from bamboo, a recycling program for all bath products and containers, and motion detectors in public spaces to determine needs for heating, air conditioning, and lighting.
