- $15 Thursdays from Vermont’s Throwback Ski Area -
Magic Mountain Ski Area announced at the Boston Ski Show its special “Throwback Thursday” lift ticket pricing of $15 for all skiers and riders on every non-holiday and non-“powder day” Thursday during the 2013-14 ski season.
Magic has long recognized that the ski industry has grown increasingly expensive with a greater proportion of customers drawn from the highest income levels. By creating a “throwback” to late 1970s pricing for one out of every four of its regular operating days, Magic seeks to make its challenging terrain and classic Vermont experience accessible to a broader group of both locals and out-of-staters.
“People say we’re ‘old school’: from our winding, narrow trails; our bottom-to-top classic chairlifts; our one central base lodge; and, with our relaxed, no-frills, community atmosphere”, said Jim Sullivan, President of Magic Mountain. “Not sure I like the term ‘old’, but we just don’t think the sport always needs to be ‘new’, with ever more expensive amenities and distractions. Hopefully our Thursdays here will give more people the alternative needed to get out and simply enjoy skiing.”
In addition to its “Throwback Thursday” ticket price, Magic will continue its successful local resident “Vermont and New Hampshire Days” discount pricing on all non-holiday Fridays and Sundays. Magic’s every day weekend and holiday ticket prices are also below most major resorts.
About Magic Mountain Ski Area
Magic is southern Vermont’s only independently owned and operated mountain. Different than the corporate resorts, Magic has stayed true to the original Vermont ski culture. Magic skiers and riders enjoy a mountain emphasizing natural, diverse ski terrain in an atmosphere of shared camaraderie for the sport both on the slopes and in the lodge after a long, rewarding day. Magic has an authentic vibe because, in reality, it still remains first and foremost a ski area, not a “resort”—and a distinctly Vermont one at that. It’s a community spirit that keeps Magic thriving for those committed ski and riding enthusiasts who want to “carve their own trail” and experience real snow and obstacles that mother-nature puts on the hill. And, it’s why Magic skiers love the mountain so much that they have personally contributed to enhancing and preserving it for future generations to enjoy through the Magic Faithful Club.
