(Jay, VT)– Jay Peak’s ongoing music series continues next month with two acts known for both their improvisational styles as well as their musical precision. Keller Williams and Dark Star Orchestra bookend the month of May with both acts expected to draw large crowds to Jay Peak’s Foeger Ballroom. Williams plays the Foeger on Friday, May 3 with Dark Star Orchestra closing out the month on Friday, May 31.
Keller Williams, often described as a one-man jam band, combines elements of bluegrass, reggae, folk, and alternative rock. His one-man shows have gained notoriety because of their unique nature: he recreates the sound of a full band. Using a piece of technology known as an Echoplex Delay Unit, Williams will play a riff once on an instrument and then move onto the next, repeating the process across as many instruments as a song calls for. Each riff is recorded, layered and synched in real time allowing Williams to play unaccompanied while creating the sound of a multi-instrument band.
“I’ve seen Keller play five or six times and each time is refreshing and fun,” said David Hayes, Jay Peak’s Director of Lodging and Hospitality and one of the individuals responsible for bringing Williams to the Foeger. “The nature of his shows, with him playing and layering different instruments all in the span of one song, gives his performances a very dynamic feel while his stage presence can lend a comic take to some of the songs.”

One of the most critically-acclaimed Grateful Dead cover bands lands at Jay Peak at the end of May. Dark Star Orchestra will bring their love and dedication to the Grateful Dead’s catalogue of music to the Foeger Ballroom on Friday, May 31. Since forming in 1997, DSO has played over 2,000 shows with each one meticulously recreating a past Dead performance. DSO’s fanatical attention to detail and deep knowledge of the Grateful Dead’s 30-years’ worth of music allows them to create unique set lists that appeal to both young and old fans of the legendary group.
“We’re excited to host Dark Star Orchestra at The Foeger,” said Jay Peak’s vice president of Sales and Marketing Steve Wright. “People that haven’t seen them prior are going to instantly become fans.”
