Retro Day Strikes Again at Magic Mountain

-50-Plus Years Celebration of Magic Since 1960 -

February 4th, 2013, Londonderry, VT— On Saturday February 9th, Magic Mountain goes “back to the future”—again-- with an all-out celebration of skiing and riding like it used to be at this “throwback” mountain. Apparel and equipment from the past 50-plus years will be on display on the slopes of Magic. Magic skiers and riders are known to have closets full of retro gear and this weekend everyone is invited to make a fashion statement the Magic way.  To help mark Magic’s founding over 50 years ago, Magic is offering all those who are 50-plus years of age 50% off all day lift tickets.

After a day on the slopes, Retro Day continues with historical trivia contests and prizes for best retro gear during après ski time at the Black Line Tavern. In addition, Magic has a buffet dinner planned Saturday evening at the Black Line Tavern with DJ Ron Bush spinning classic tunes from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s to keep everyone dancing the night away.

“This is probably the only day of the ski year that Magic patrons care about the fashion statement they make on the mountain,” said Jim Sullivan, President of Magic Mountain. “Retro Day is not really about any one day here, as we always try to keep alive the original spirit and culture of skiing and riding at Magic for our customers. But a day celebrating our traditions is an opportunity for all to come together as a community.”

About Magic Mountain Ski Area

Magic is southern Vermont’s only independently owned and operated mountain. Different than the corporate resorts, Magic has stayed true to the original Vermont ski culture.  Magic skiers enjoy a mountain emphasizing natural, diverse ski terrain in an atmosphere of shared camaraderie for the sport both on the slopes and in the lodge after a long, rewarding day. Magic has an authentic vibe because, in reality, it still remains first and foremost a ski area, not a “resort”—and a distinctly Vermont one at that. It’s a community spirit that keeps Magic thriving for those committed ski and riding enthusiasts who want to “carve their own trail” and experience real snow and obstacles that mother-nature puts on the hill. And, it’s why Magic skiers love the mountain so much that they have personally contributed to enhancing and preserving it for future generations to enjoy via the Magic Partnership.
