After wrapping up Operation Mountains of Love and donating nearly $40,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, Vermont ski resorts are looking to do even more. Ski Vermont will be donating 100% of the proceeds from sales of its iconic poster series to Sandy relief from now until December 31, 2012. Posters are available for sale at skivermont.com/store.
“Our first round of raising money went really well, with locals chipping in at the Boston Ski and Snowboard Expo, and resorts and partners providing prize incentives and donations of their own,” said Ski Vermont Public Affairs Director, Sarah Neith. “Along with Mount Snow’s relief event, and cash contributions from Okemo and Sugarbush, we sent nearly $40,000 to the disaster relief fund, but we’d love to break $50,000 with our additional efforts.”
Ski Vermont’s fundraising through poster sales is not the only continued effort in Vermont. Okemo Mountain Resort will be hosting another fundraiser during Thanksgiving Weekend in hopes to raise another $50,000, and Sugarbush Resort will continue to match donations until it reaches $25,000. In addition to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund donations, resorts across the state are exploring fundraising options that will channel donations directly to smaller organizations serving severely impacted communities.
