BURKE MOUNTAIN & JAY PEAK ANNOUNCE $250 MILLION IN IMPROVENTS
New Joint Website Highlights Burke/Jay Combo Products
October 2, 2012 (East Burke, VT)- On September 27, the owners of Burke Mountain and Jay Peak Resorts announced a $500 million economic revitalization initiative for multiple companies in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont with over $275 million to be invested in Burke Mountain and Jay Peak Resorts. The improvements at Burke Mountain will compliment the brand new Mid Burke Express Quad chairlift installed last year and include over $1 million in improvements to the snowmaking system for the upcoming season, five new gladed trails, and the introduction of an unrestricted season pass to both mountains with The JudgePass.
BurkeMountainwill see significant developments and improvements over the next three years estimated at $108 million. Proposed projects include four new slope-side lodging facilities at both the Mid Burke Lodge and the Shreburne Base area that will include new services for skiers and riders and additional resort amenities. Jay Peak Resort will continue the ongoing development with a $170 million investment in the new West Bowl area including new terrain, lifts, trails, and a hotel complex. This new development will compliment nearly $200 million invested in Jay Peak Resort to date.
The new JudgePass is on sale now at a discounted price until October 15 (and November 5 for college students) along with over $200 in savings on various products at both resorts. Why “The Judge?” Consumers will learn the full story behind the two mountains and this new season pass on the recently launched website www.greatbigkingdom.com where future combined Burke/Jay products including lodging and ticket deals will be announced in the coming months.
“Offering a variety of combination passes to both Jay Peak and Burke Mountain is the natural first step in aligning the two areas’ ticket programs,” said Steve Wright, Jay Peak’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Such products are a great way to get skiers and riders who may have never visited one of the resorts, to experience a different mountain.”
