Stratton Mountain Sees Second Snowfall this Week

STRATTON MOUNTAIN, Vermont

With two bouts of snowfall in the second week of October, excitement for winter is through the roof as the season gets off to a promising start.

Those traveling to the mountain this morning saw a coating of white from the summit to mid-mountain with as much as an inch in some places.

The snow was brought on by a cold front rushing southeast from Canada, causing temperatures at the summit to drop sharply into the upper 20s early Friday morning. Snow spread from the summit to the Lower Mountain, with some errant flakes falling all the way to the base area.

This is the second snowfall at Stratton this week, since a cold snap on Monday left a dusting of snow at Stratton’s summit. The news of Monday’s snow was equally huge, with a photo of the white stuff quickly becoming the most popular item ever on the resort’s Facebook page.

The snowfall comes just as Stratton is gearing up for the season with the announcement of two new ways to save on snow: the Hi-5 discount card and PG-29 Pass, for 18-29 year olds.

See the snow photos on Facebook, and check Stratton.com and Twitter (@StrattonResort) to get the latest Stratton snow news.
