Couples are invited to renew their vows or tie-the-knot for the first time at 3,600-feet during Mount Snow’s Cloud Nine Nuptials on Valentine’s Day. It all starts with a procession up the Sundance Quad where at the top a local Justice of the Peace awaits to conduct the ceremony for dozens of lovebirds standing around a giant heart painted in the snow. The ceremony is followed by a reception in the Summit Lodge and participation is free-of-charge; lift tickets on Valentine’s Day are just 2-for-$49 when purchased in advance online.

The Stowe Derby is the oldest and original Downhill & Cross-Country race in North America. It started in 1945 as a personal challenge between Austrian, Sepp Ruschp and Erling Strom, the world famous mountaineer from Norway. The challenge remains the same - a race from the top of Mt. Mansfield to the historic village of Stowe. Today, the race attracts over 800 competitors, for 20km of challenging terrain with a total vertical drop of over 2,600 feet.

Middlebury College will host the 2013 NCAA Skiing Championships which will bring together the best collegiate alpine and Nordic ski racers in the U.S, many of whom are former World Cup competitors. The alpine races will take place at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl on March 6 & 8, 2013, and the Nordic races will be held at the Carroll and Jane Rikert Nordic Center on March 7 & 9, 2013. These events are free and open to the public.
Light the Night Rail Jam, Okemo Mountain Resort

Okemo will light up the night skies with a little help from the Ludlow Fire Department. This jam format competition invites skiers and snowboarders to throw down some tricks while Ludlow fire trucks throw some light on Okemo’s Bull Run trail. The Killarney Irish Pub will ante up $250 in prize money and host a party after the event. Half of the proceeds from the entry fee will go to support the Ludlow Fire Department for their help in supplying the illumination. The other half of the entry fee proceeds and the prize purse from The Killarney will go to the event winners.

The Beach Party originated as an end-of-ski season celebration for the many locals who had a vested interest in the mountain and community. The gnarled horde of beach goers ensures a packed dance floor, complete with fake grass hulas and flowery leis. By thirsty endurance and carved dance moves, The Beach Party is a Jay Peak tradition for all to experience.
Winterbike at Kingdom Trails
In 2012, Kingdom Trails held their first "Winterbike" event. Conditions were perfect for biking on the trails and over 100 participants pedaled the vast network on a gorgeous sunny day ending with a fun downhill race. Seeing the interest in this growing industry of snow-specific bikes, Kingdom Trails will begin to design "snow bike" only trails. Not conflicting with Nordic Trails, the winter snow bike trails will provide enough track for avid bikers to enjoy in the winter time.
