Mount Snow Tri For Hope To Benefit Windham County Chapter of The American Cancer Society
West Dover, VT (June 21, 2012) – This is the fourth year Mount Snow has hosted a sprint distance triathlon, however this year’s event is very special because for the first time the southern Vermont resort has teamed up with The American Cancer Society to present the Mount Snow Tri for Hope occurring Saturday, August 11. All proceeds from participant registration will benefit the Windham County, Vermont chapter of The American Cancer Society.
Participants will be grouped in a variety of heats based on age, gender and fitness level so triathletes of all abilities - from pros with all the gear to walkers and casual bikers - are encouraged to take part and help raise money for the fight against cancer. The Mount Snow Tri For Hope is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event and is classified as a sprint distance course with a half-mile swim, followed by a 12 mile bike and finishing with a 3.1 mile run.
“We are so excited to partner with The American Cancer Society and to be able to have one of our existing events become a fundraiser to help fight cancer”, says Kelly Pawlak, Mount Snow’s General Manager. “We are looking forward to a big turnout and a day full of fun and camaraderie”.
Registration is $125 per person and teams of up to three people can participate with one person on each three person team taking on a leg of the course. To register for the event or to make a donation, visit www.triforhope.com.
For nearly a century, The American Cancer Society has fought for every birthday threatened by every type of cancer in every community. By taking what they’ve learned through research and turning it into what they do, the ACS has contributed to a 15 percent decrease in the overall cancer death rate between the early 1990s and 2005. Overall, 11 million cancer survivors in America will celebrate a birthday this year. Thanks to fundraising events like the Mount Snow Tri For Hope, The American Cancer Society is able to continue its support of the battle against cancer. For more information, visit www.cancer.org
