Mount Snow Golf Club Opens Early With A Number Of Improvements To The Course

West Dover, VT (May 8, 2012) – Following a number of course improvements over the last couple summers including ongoing projects expected to be completed for this season, look for Mount Snow Golf Club, located in the southern Vermont resort village of West Dover, to start popping up once again on many golf critic’s “Must Play” lists in the near future.  The Geoffrey Cornish-designed 18-hole championship course will be donning a number of newly reconfigured sand traps, significant drainage improvements, some re-leveled tee boxes and earth work designed to improve aesthetics and playability.

Under the direction of veteran course superintendent Bryan White, work began early this spring thanks to a mild March and a quick melt-off of the traditionally deep Vermont snow pack.  With no snow to have to work around, White and his crew had additional time to get the aforementioned projects mostly completed before golfers teed it up for opening day on Friday, May 4; which is an early opening for the mountain course.

“Over the last few years we’ve put a lot of time and resources into improving so many different aspects of this course and this is the season those improvements are really going to show,” says White.  “I think golfers are really going enjoy what we’ve done in an effort to return MSGC to the short list of elite mountain golf courses in the northeast.”

Mount Snow Golf Club stretches 6,943 yards from the tips and offers four different tees for players to choose from.  The course is seamlessly matriculated into the mountain terrain and features large greens, well placed sand traps and sneaky water hazards.  Located in the southern Green Mountains of Vermont, Mount Snow Golf Club is as scenic as it is challenging.  It is also home to The Original Golf School, Fairways Restaurant and a full service pro shop.
