Bolton Valley’s Snowshoe Shuffle, Feb. 11, to raise money and support the American Lung Association

BOLTON, Vt.

Bolton Valley, Vermont’s most convenient ski area just 30 minutes from Burlington, once again will host the Bolton Valley Snowshoe Shuffle, a 5K walk or run on snowshoes to benefit the American Lung Association, on Saturday, Feb. 11. The event will be held on a specially designed course at the Bolton Valley Nordic Center and will include several hills and groomed trails as well as powder sections and single track. All abilities are welcome, from those who have never been on snowshoes to seasoned racers.

Fundraising efforts support the American Lung Association’s mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.

Directly following the event, awards will be presented to the top three male and female runners as well as the top three individual fundraisers and top three fundraising teams. All walkers and runners will be entered into a drawing for great prizes from a variety of sponsors.  After the awards ceremony, participants and family members can swim at the Sports Center’s indoor pool at a discounted rate ($5 for adults, free for children under 6).

Pre-registration is $35 and includes a fleece hat while supplies last; day-of registration is $40. Both individuals and teams are encouraged to participate and raise additional money for the American Lung Association. All participants who raise an additional $100 will receive a free Bolton Valley lift ticket for skiing in the afternoon after the event.

The Bolton Valley Snowshoe Shuffle 5K begins at 10 a.m. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. For more details or to register for the event, visit http://www.boltonvalley.com/. Online registration closes Feb. 9.

With one of the highest base elevations of any Vermont Nordic Center, at 2,100 feet, The Bolton Nordic Center receives plenty of natural snow for its 88 km of terrain—earlier in the season and more often—and keeps it longer so guests can enjoy the pristine trails, lined with snow-covered balsam firs, where they may even find an animal track or two. Instruction is available for beginner groups, Nordic Kids, backcountry skiers plus private lessons for all abilities in classic and skate skiing.

BoltonValley is Vermont’s most convenient and affordable big mountain skiing. Less than 10 minutes from I-89 and less than 30 minutes from Burlington, the family-friendly mountain offers skiers and riders of all abilities three mountain peaks with 70 trails and 6 lifts, plus 3 terrain parks including the Burton Progression Park.

Bolton Valley was the first in Vermont and the second in the U.S. to implement wind power as an energy source and is the recipient of the National Ski Areas Association’s 2010 Silver Eagle Award for environmental initiatives. Approximately 88km of high elevation Nordic terrain, a complete Sports Center and Indoor Amusement Center plus Vermont’s most extensive top-to-bottom night skiing and riding are just a few of the extras available to guests. All-inclusive, true ski-to-your-door lodging packages are from $79/person/night. For more information visit www.boltonvalley.com or call 877-9BOLTON.
