STRATTON MOUNTAIN, Vt.
Stratton Mountain Resort in southern Vermont has something on tap for every member of the family, from the diaper set to the high flying park kids to coffee by the fire place types.
Martin Luther King Weekend is a ski getaway tradition. A long weekend break from the grind meant to be spent on the slopes. Stratton has a series of events planned, making the holiday a can’t miss at the resort.

- Cold Wars Rail Jam on Tyrolienne, 2:30pm. Daytime event on Tyrolienne with registration from 1-2 pm in the overflow room, competitior meeting at the top of Tyrolienne at 2:15 with competition starting at 2:30 pm. Compete for prizes and cash

This season, Stratton is offering a wide variety of activities and deals geared towards families big and small.
New this winter are dog sledding and Experience Snowboarding.
Dog Sledding. Book a dog sled tour for two. The getaway includes an introduction to the dog team, scenic views and a stop at the Pearl Buck Cabin for hot cocoa and snacks by the fireplace.
Experience Snowboarding. Experience Snowboarding builds leaps and bounds on Burton’s existing Learn to Ride model. With a full day of education and an instructor:student ratio of 1:5, Experience Snowboarding is a 360 degree approach to snowboarding, the sport and the lifestyle, for students 13 and older.
Tubing.The lift serviced Coca Cola Tubing park, located on Big Ben in the Sunbowl will provide thrills for all ages for a second straight season. This four-lane behemoth opened to rave reviews in 2009-10, with lanes that stretch up to 750 feet long. New customer service improvements will make the Tubing park more family friendly with a warming hut and improved facilities among the improvements. Open Saturday’s and holidays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ice Skating at the Village Commons Pond.Ice skating on the pond in the Village Commons is a true Vermont experience. The mill House in the Commons is open from 4pm-10pm on Saturdays and select holidays, with marshmallows, a fire pit, board games and hot chocolate. A way for the entire family to experience winter together.
Mini Snowmobile Rides for Kids. A great activity for younger kids! Children 8 and older (and weighing less than 90 lbs) can drive their own mini Arctic Cat snowmobile around a groomed track in the Sun Bowl base area. The mini snowmobiles are available every Saturday, plus MLK and Presidents weekends.
Kids Camp. Leave your kids with Stratton and have a night out; they’ll love it! Kids Camp at Night is geared towards kids ages 7-12 with nightly themes and costume parties. Beginning at 5:30pm, Kids Camp meets at the Junior Ski and Snowboard School building. Activities include snowshoeing, ice skating, crafts, movies and more! Dinner and S’More roasting included. Pick up is at 9pm. $39 per child, $20 if booked through Junior School or Seasonal Program on the same day. Pajama Party at Stratton Childcare is geared towards kids ages 2-6. Beginning at 5:30pm, kids will enjoy dinner, craft time and movie watching. Pick up is at 9pm. $39 per child, $25 if booked in Childcare Program the same day.
Kids Ski and Stay Free. Kids 17 and younger are invited to ski and stay free when two adults purchase a (2 night minimum) lift and lodging package in a family friendly condominium. PLUS, Kids can rent free too when an adult purchases a rental.
Junior Ski School. Here at Stratton, home of the first bona fide ski school for kids, we know how to start young skiers and riders off the right way. Stratton’s programs combine the fun of discovery, the challenge of trying new things and the thrill of acquiring new skills. Stratton offers programs for children of all ages, with Little Cub geared towards ages 4-6 and Big Cub for ages 7-12. Call for rates!
