What: Apple season is underway in Vermont and this year’s bounty is abundant. The Agency of Agriculture, Department of Travel and Tourism, Vermont Foodbank and the Tree Fruit Growers Association would like to invite you to a celebratory kick off. In its fifth season, the state of Vermont has partnered with Small Dog Electronics and Woodchuck Cider to offer visitors to Vermont’s 15 orchards the chance to win an iPod or iPad, just by finding the wooden apple hidden amidst the trees. All participating orchards and contest info can be found at www.applestoipods.com.
As generations of visitors and Vermonters well-know, apple picking is one of the most popular, and tasty activities during Vermont’s stunning foliage season. There is something special about spending a fall day surrounded by the sweet smell of fresh apples and picking them with your own hands. Adding the chance to win a free iPod only makes it that much more fun.
This year, the Vermont Department of Tourism is also helping the Vermont Foodbank promote Pick for Your Neighbor, where visitors to participating orchards can pick and purchase extra apples to donate to the Foodbank. These apples will then be distributed to Vermonters in need.
