KILLINGTON, Vt. – The first major winter storm of the New Year has dropped 14 inches of new snow on Vermont’s Killington Resort since Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service is forecasting an additional 5-11 inches through Wednesday night.

“All this snow comes at a great time in the season as we’re heading into an extended holiday weekend and next week’s Winter Dew Tour event,” said Rob Megnin, Killington’s director of sales, marketing and reservations. “The phone lines at Killington Central Reservations have been ringing off the hook for bookings for the upcoming Martin Luther King Holiday Weekend.”

Lodging is still available for the Martin Luther King Holiday Weekend, including Ski and Stay packages online at www.Killington.com, or through Killington Central Reservations at 800-621-6867.

Killington currently has 112 open trails and has received 109 inches of snow so far this season with an average mid-mountain base depth of 30-40 inches. This weekend, Killington plans to have more than 115 open trails and 21 lifts in operation.

While skiers and riders are rejoicing with the outstanding powder conditions, road crews from the Vermont Department of Transportation are out in full force plowing, sanding and salting area roads.
