The Mountain Top Inn & Resort Offers “Old Fashioned” Family Fun

CHITTENDEN. Vt.

The Mountain Top Inn & Resort located in central Vermont, only minutes from Killington Ski Resort and Pico Resort, has a variety of winter activities for family members of every age to enjoy.  The Nordic ski and snowshoe program is available for all ages.  As long as a child can walk, snowshoeing is a fun family sport, while Nordic skiing takes slightly more strength and balance.  Rentals are available for both sports and lessons are offered starting at the age of 6.  The Resort has pulk sled rentals so that adults can cross country ski and pull their youngsters along behind them.

Across from the Lodge there is an ice skating rink, lighted for evening skating, and skate rentals are available for children and adults.  Behind the Lodge is an old fashioned sledding hill that keeps the children entertained and active for hours.  The sledding hill has lighting at night keeping it accessible until after dinner.  Parents can watch the children from inside, or they may decide to join in the fun.  Sleds are complimentary for Resort guests.  New this season is the large, blue slate stone fire pit, just outside the Tavern, where families can relax and toast marshmallows or just sit and sip a hot cocoa.

Horse drawn sleigh rides, dog sledding and snowmobile tours are also on the list of family fun activities at The Mountain Top Inn & Resort.  Advance reservations are a must as availability is limited.

Day visitors from other Resorts or those who live locally can purchase a facilities pass which allows them to skate, sled and use the trail system.  Full day passes are $20 for adults and $16 for children and half day passes are $16 and $12 respectively.

The Resort’s Winter Family Wonderland package is an affordable way to take a winter vacation with the entire family.  Kids of all ages will enjoy the chance to play in the snow and enjoy a 3 night (or more) package, starting at $1095 for Quad Occupancy. This package includes:

• 3 nights in a Classic Lodge Room
• Hearty Vermont country breakfast each morning
• A magical horse-drawn sleigh ride
• One hour “family” cross country ski lesson with rentals
• Trail passes for 60km to use throughout your stay
• Use of the Resort's facilities, includes sledding hill and ice skating rink
• Taxes and Resort charge

The Mountain Top Inn & Resort offers 60km of cross country ski and snowshoe trails, has snowmaking capabilities on a 1km Loop, daily grooming on 40km and is majestically set on 350 acres. Known for its sweeping mountain vistas, endless winter adventures, casual dining, and warm hospitality, the Resort has 30 Lodge guest rooms, five “pet friendly” mountain cabins, and a variety of private chalet home rentals.  For more information call 802-483-2311 or visit www.mountaintopinn.com.
