STRATTON MOUNTAIN, Vt.

There is no better time to come home to Stratton than the holidays. The resort is keeping with tradition and has planned a season full of extraordinary events.

With so much to do and see on and off the hill, now is the best time to take advantage of Stratton’s Kids Ski and Stay Free package. Available until Christmas Day, kids 17 and younger are invited to ski and stay free when two adults purchase a (2 night minimum) lift and lodging package in a family friendly condominium.  Plus, kids rent free when an adult purchases a rental.

Below, please find some Holiday 2010 highlights:

Saturday, December 18 – Stratton’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Relax after a long day on the slopes with hot cocoa, marshmallows and gingerbread cookies as you take in the warming sounds of the Blue Moon Carolers from 3pm-5pm. Best behavior required, as Santa will be in attendance, making his list, checking it twice, finding out been who’s naughty or nice.

December 22 to 23 – Ross Powers Boardercross Camp. With few boardercross courses on the East Coast, gaining the confidence to get the hole shot and lead the pack into the first turn can be a long process. Stratton is hosting the first annual Ross Powers Boardercoss Camp, a chance to learn to ride with the pack from a leader of the U.S. boardercross pack. The camp includes two full days of coaching, lunches and a dinner and video session with Powers, a two time Olympic medalist. The cost of the camp is $299; $199 for Stratton seasonal program participants. Lift tickets are a discounted $25/day. Participants must be 10 years of age or older

Sunday, December 26 – Cold Wars Rail Jam. Open to amateur skiers and riders who want to show the world what they've got, this contest will be held under the lights in the Tyrolienne terrain park.  Compete for respect, recognition, prizes, and cash.  Helmet, a SES pass and parental consent are required.

December 27 to January 01 – Kids Kamp. Leave your kids with Stratton and have a night out; they’ll love it! Kids Kamp at Night is geared towards kids ages 7-12 with nightly themes and costume parties. Beginning at 5:30pm, Kids Kamp meets at the Junior Ski and Snowboard School building. Activities include snowshoeing, ice skating, crafts, movies and more! Dinner and S’More roasting included. Pick up is at 9pm. $39 per child, $20 if booked through Junior School or Seasonal Program on the same day.

Pajama Party at Stratton Childcare is geared towards kids ages 2-6. Beginning at 5:30pm, kids will enjoy dinner, craft time and movie watching. Pick up is at 9pm. $39 per child, $25 if booked in Childcare Program the same day.

Friday, December 31 – New Year’s Eve Celebration. A full day events for skiers and riders of all ages. From Kid’s Crafts to Family Dinner (reservations required) to the Torch Parade down Suntanner, ending in fireworks at the base. Trade the earth tone hiking shoes for heels at 9pm as Grizzly’s welcomes the Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra. Open til 1am, welcome 2011 from Grizzly’s deck with an unobstructed view of Stratton Mountain.

January 04 to 06 – Winter Yoga Cleanse. Unwind after a marathon of holiday celebrations with Stratton’s Winter Yoga Cleanse. Join registered yoga teacher Lynne Andreen for a three-day yoga cleanse at the Stratton Sports Center. The event will include morning meditations, two yoga sessions per day, lectures, optional hikes and a variety of detoxifying juices, teas and soups.
